How CPF Contributions Work in Singapore
CPF is Singapore's social security savings scheme. Each month, employees and employers contribute a percentage of wages to CPF accounts. Use this calculator to calculate CPF contributions across three accounts: the Ordinary Account (OA) for housing, the Special Account (SA) for retirement, and the Medisave Account (MA) for healthcare.
Update: Since January 2025, the SA closes when a member turns 55. Savings move to a new Retirement Account (RA) instead, so members aged 55 and above build retirement savings through the OA and RA.
Contribution rates depend on age and citizenship status. Singapore Citizens and PRs in their 3rd year onwards pay full rates. First- and second-year PRs pay lower graduated rates, unless they jointly apply to CPF Board for higher rates. Not sure which rate applies to you? The CPF Board calculator above works it out instantly.
CPF Ordinary Wage and Additional Wage Ceilings
From 1 January 2026, Ordinary Wages (your monthly salary) are capped at S$8,000 for CPF purposes. This is the final step of a multi-year increase that began in 2023. If your salary exceeds S$8,000, CPF is still calculated only on the first S$8,000. Additional Wages (like bonuses and commissions) have a separate ceiling: S$102,000 per year, minus any Ordinary Wage contributions already made that year. Enter your OW and AW above to calculate CPF contributions under these ceilings automatically.
Frequently Asked Questions About CPF Contributions in Singapore
Ordinary Wages (OW) are your regular monthly salary, capped at S$8,000/month for CPF. Additional Wages (AW) cover bonuses, commissions and other non-regular payments. Both OW and AW attract CPF contributions. AW is capped separately at S$102,000 a year, minus the OW already contributed for that year. CPF contributions are mandatory by law for all Singapore Citizens and PRs earning wages here. Neither employee nor employer can opt out. Employers who don't contribute correctly face penalties from CPF Board, including late payment interest and possible prosecution.
The due date is the last day of each month. Employers get until the 14th of the following month (or the next working day, if the 14th falls on a weekend or public holiday) before late payment interest applies.
Yes. CPF depends on employment status (Citizen or PR) and wage level, not job type. Any Citizen or PR earning over S$50/month is generally covered, though the exact rate depends on total wages and the S$750 threshold in the standard rate tables.
Yes. Citizens and PRs can top up their CPF accounts voluntarily, on top of mandatory employer-employee contributions. Voluntary top-ups have their own annual limits and aren't included in the standard contribution calculation above.
